LISBON LANGUAGE CAFÉ TEACHER
Katherine Sholder is a native English speaker, who has recently moved here from the US. She has a Master’s degree in Education and a Teaching Certificate, and has been an English as a Foreign Language tutor since 2000. She loves teaching all ages and levels of English language learners, from beginners to advanced learners, focusing on speaking, listening, reading, writing, and accent reduction skills. She has taught in many different settings, from public and private schools to private institutions and universities. In addition to helping students prepare for standardized tests such as TOEFL, she offers professional editing and proofreading services.
She says, “I love teaching English because it allows me to share my culture and at the same time learn about my student’s cultures. Offering individual and group lessons for all levels has given me the privilege of working with children, teens, and adults from all over the world. Traveling abroad, living in different countries, and learning several languages have allowed me to understand the difficulties of learning a new language. Since I believe that laughter helps all students learn, my lessons are always student centered, informal, and fun! My goal is to help my students feel comfortable and confident using English, whether they’re in a classroom, meeting Americans in their neighborhood, or at work.”
